C.W. Obel A/S continuously makes new direct investments focusing on good and healthy companies where we can enter into a loyal and long-term partnership with the other owners as well as the management. C.W. Obel A/S can assist with the company’s future value creation through additional growth capital and on-going strategic sparring with the company’s stakeholders – for example in connection with a generational shift, geographical expansion or the establishment of new activities.
C.W. Obel A/S owns 11.6% of the listed Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S which is the ofshoot of Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni. Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S was listed on Nasdaq OMX Copenhagen in February 2016 and is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of cigars and pibe tobacco.
Furthermore, C.W. Obel A/S owns parts in a number of Danish industrial companies within different industries, e.g. Semco Maritime A/S (95,9%), Kilsmark A/S (49%) and Rexholm A/S (ID Identity) (29,5%). In addition, C.W. Obel A/S owns 35% of the furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen A/S through Skandinavisk Holding A/S.

C. W. Obel owns 35% of Skandinavisk Holding A/S which is an offshoot of the merger in 1961 of the activities of the Danish tobacco manufacturers Chr. Augustinus Fabrikker, R. Færchs Fabrikker and C.W. Obel into Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni. The company later alters its name to Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S. The remaining 65% is owned by Chr. Augustinus Fabrikker.

Fritz Hansen A/S (100%), an internationally renowed Danish furniture manufacturer, was founded in 1872 by master cabinetmaker Fritz Hansen (1847-1902). Fritz Hansen A/S’ work with some af the world’s most known architects including Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm and Hans J. Wegner has resulted in a number of unique pieces of furniture. Fritz Hansen A/S is probably best known for the chairs “Series 7″, “The Egg” and “The Swan”. The Company was acquired by Skandinavisk Holding A/S in 1979.
Tivoli A/S (32%) was founded by Georg Carstensen in 1843. The amusement park was founded as a limited company, a number of shareholders were master craftsmen who participated in the construction. Today, Tivoli A/S is listed on Nasdaq OMX Copenhagen. Tivoli is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Denmark and presents a unique experience in the centre of Copenhagen.
C.W. Obel Ejendomme A/S offers commercial and private leases in quality properties in attractive locations in Copenhagen and Aalborg. The properties are carefully selected because of their location, the infrastructure surrounding the properties as well as the daily use value for the tenants. As something special in the real estate industry, C.W. Obel Ejendomme A/S has their own management organization, which means that the employees of C.W. Obel Ejendomme A/S are present on the properties and able to keep daily contact with the tenants.
C.W. Obel Ejendomme A/S had by the end of 2014 a real estate portfolio of 40 properties with total 300,000 m2 to a value of approximately 6 billion DKK.
In 2009, C.W. Obel Ejendomme A/S together with Lundbeckfondens Invest A/S established a new joint venture company called Obel-LFI Ejendomme A/S. The investment strategy of Obel-LFI Ejendomme A/S is the same as the one of C.W. Obel Ejendomme A/S, but the joint venture company focuses on large properties in Copenhagen.
In 2014, C.W. Obel Ejendomme A/S began to establish a portfolio of modern rental apartments in Copenhagen. Investments are made through the subsidiary C.W. Obel Bolig A/S or Obel-LFI Ejendomme A/S.
An essential part of C.W. Obel A/S’s assets is invested in liquid financial assets. Active management of the financial assets takes place in collaboration with a number of competent external managers.
The majority of the assets is invested in fixed-income securities such as Danish bonds, Danish and global corporate bonds and government bonds. The remaining part of the assets is placed in Danish and global shares.
The managers and the strategic asset allocation are monitored on an on-going basis and adjusted if needed.
